Instructions

This page includes various instructions needed for operating various controls used by Virtual Tours.

YouTube Instructions

Across the bottom of the YouTube video pane is the control bar.  In the lower left corner is the play/pause [►] button.  Click on it to start or pause the video.  The next button to the right is used for volume control.

In the lower right corner of the control bar is a button with arrows pointing in all four directions.  Click on it to see the video displayed full-screen.  Be aware that viewing the video full-screen takes up more Internet bandwidth, so if the video is slow or is jerky or choppy, press the ESC key to return to non-full screen mode.

When the video begins to play, a new button is displayed with “360p” and an up-arrow.  Click on it to increase the quality of the video.  The higher the resolution number, the better the video quality.

Be aware, however, that higher quality takes more Internet bandwidth so, if your Internet connection is not high-speed, there will be frequent delays in the video as it is being downloaded.  If this happens, click on a lower resolution (a lower number).

Plug-In Installation Instructions

Your Internet browser will display some type of option for you to install the necessary plug-in or add-in, such as an "Active X Control".  It may be a banner across the top of the page being displayed or some sort of dialog box.  If you have a banner, click on it to see the options.

Once you have a dialog box, select the option to “Install” and follow your browser’s instructions.  When the installation is complete, the Virtual Tour will begin downloading.  If it doesn’t, click the “Refresh” button on your browser.  If it still doesn’t work, watch the Virtual Tour via YouTube.  For instructions on how to use Presenter, click here.

Presenter Instructions

Once the plug-in has been installed, the Virtual Tour will be downloaded.  Depending on the speed of your Internet connection, you will either immediately see the opening photograph of the Virtual Tour or a black area with the words “Buffering” and the numbers for percent downloaded and time remaining.

Once downloaded, use your mouse to click on the Virtual Tour that you want to take.  Once the tour is running, move your mouse to the bottom of the viewing area to display the control bar.

In the lower right is a button with an arrow pointing to the upper left.  Click on it to display the menu.  Use the menu to control various aspects of the video including volume.  You can also access this menu by right-clicking anywhere in the viewing area.

To the left of the menu button is a button with an arrow pointing to the upper right.  Click on it to change the view to full screen.

In the lower left is the play/pause [►] button.  Click on it to start or pause the video.  To the right of this button is the slide bar showing how far the tour has progressed.  Use it to slide forward or backward in the tour.

To exit the tour entirely and return to the previous webpage, click your browser's Back button (or use the Backspace key).
