Along with the map of all the trips, there are separate maps that just show the trips for a given category, such as 4WD trips and geology. See the legend below that lists each category, along with a link to a map of the trips belonging to that category.

Below are the different icons that you will find on the map that depict the category of trip/chapter.
4WD Trips
These icons indicate trips that require a 4-wheel drive vehicle.
Points of Interest
Trips that are places or points of interest.
Road Trips
Indicates trips that can be reached with any vehicle.
Geologic Interest
Trips/chapters that focus on places of geologic interest.
Hikes
Indicates trips that require hiking short or long distances.
Restrooms
The location of restrooms: appears only in chapters.

Our map data was developed using Google Maps. All of the features you are familiar with in Google Maps is available here.
Zoom in or out of the map can be done with your mouse’s scroll wheel, pinching in and out for touchscreen users or clicking (tapping) on the plus/minus button int he lower-right corner of the map.
Three map styles are available. They are road map, terrain and satellite view. Change the map style using the buttons in the upper-left corner of the map. Satellite view is a great way to see what the terrain looks like around a place you may be visiting.

Hike up Hellhole Canyon to Maidenhair Falls.
Passes thru great desert scenery on the way to a palm grove.

Any first time trip should start here.
This geologic phenomenon consists of a field of
round boulders shaped and sized like pumpkins.
Gas Domes is a geologic site consisting of
two mud pots inside the Ocotillo Wells SVRA.
This 4WD trip through the Borrego Badlands visits
two palm oases and is a nice trip to incorporate with
visiting the Pumpkin Patch.
An overlook (turn-out) along Hwy S-22 that gives an
an outstanding view of the Borrego Valley.
This challanging 4WD road (or hike if no 4WD available)
ends at the site of a historical calcite mine used during
World War 2 and passes through the scenic Truckhaven Rocks.
This is a hike into a narrow slot canyon along the South
Fork of Palm Wash. The hike is about 1.5 miles round trip.
This dirt road goes up into a canyon in the Truckhaven
Rocks and passes some unique scenery.
A large and flat dry lake that is easily accessable
from adirt road.
An overlook of the Borrego Badlands and desert to the
south. It is accessed via a 4 mile sandy road.
A 3 mile hike through a very narrow slot canyon.
Wind caves are located at the end of the hike.
This easy trail passes through a variety of cacti
species that are found around Anza-Borrego.
This hiking trail not only takes you to a set of “wind caves”,
but also offers fantastic views of the nearby badlands.
In the southeast corner of the Anza-Borrego, the Fish Creek Wash Trail
passes through a unique canyon known as Split Mountain.
This is our preferred route through the Borrego Mountain
region, as it passes by "The Slot", Hawk Canyon, Hills of the
Moon, Blowsand Canyon and Goat Trail.
The name says it all – a drive up this wash really makes
you feel like an astronaut driving in a lunar rover.
Visit the deeply eroded cliff faces of the aptly named Mud Palisades.They look like a delicate desert cathedral.
When the wildflowers are blooming in Anza-Borrego,a drive along Henderson Canyon Road is the best place to see them.
