A miniature example of a Death Valley slot canyon, Desolation Canyon has everything the "big" canyons do only on a smaller scale. It has some interesting geological formations and some different colors, too. Desolation Canyon is a short, easy hike and is not crowded like many of the other canyons near Furnace Creek.
