Because of its notoriety, Badwater is one of the most popular attractions in Death Valley so expect to find plenty of other visitors there with you. Everyone wants to have their picture taken next to the sign that marks the lowest elevation (see picture at right) and you should, too! Technically, the two record-holding elevations of -282 feet are 3.33 and 4.67 miles northeast of Badwater, out on the salt playa. The parking area, however, is close to the record at -279.8 feet. |
