Sandstone Canyon

Sandstone Canyon is one of the only slot canyons in Anza-Borrego that you can drive into.  This canyon, as the name implies, is cut through layers of beige-colored sandstones.  You can drive into Sandstone Canyon for a couple of miles and, when it becomes too narrow to drive further, get out and hike a short distance through the rest of the canyon.  This is also a nice anyone to bicycle into with a fat-tire mountain bike.

Located along Fish Creek Wash, this is a side trip for both the Split Mountain and Fish Creek Area chapters.  It is also on the way to the nearby Mud Palisades of Olla Wash and you can easily explore both places in a few hours.
